David
Snedeker, an accomplished basketball player for the University of Iowa
and Rick Pitino’s Providence College “Final Four” team,
is known as “Sneds” to his teammates and friends.
After
his college years he played professionally in Istanbul, Turkey and later
won a Global Basketball Association Championship for Nashville’s
Music City Jammers.
When
his interest turned to acting he was soon cast in several national commercials
as well as a world-wide pay per view event, which led to his role in the
Hollywood Pictures Film “Celtic Pride”. It was at this time
when Sneds became focused and determined
to pursue his goals in the entertainment industry. One year later he decided
to “hang up his gym shoes” and close his business of eight
years, Sneds was also the CEO of Cornerstone, an office printer supply
and service company.
He attacked the film
industry with the tenacity of a “full court press” as he enrolled
into the New York Film Academy and took intensive courses in Cinematography
and Directing. While walking their dogs in Central Park, it was at this
time when Sneds met his friend and confidant Richard Salvatore.
Sneds
emerged from New York having produced two short films and directing a
romantic drama called “A Simple Gesture.” After offering to
work for free he flew out to LA so he could work on Richard’s second
feature, “Laws of Deception,” as a Production Assistant, Actor,
Product Placer, Transportation Coordinator and the head of security (because
he slept in a trailer on set). With the knowledge that second unit work
was needed at the shoot in Miami, FL, Sneds positioned for the job. Richard
and director Joey Travolta, having seen “A Simple Gesture,”
approved. This led to a second unit director and director of photography
credit.
Sneds
became an integral part of Richard, Joey and David Ornston’s team
at Two Sticks Productions as the Associate Producer on this company’s
next two features, “A Matter of Trust” and “Detour”.
After optioning the screenplay “If You Only Knew,” Sneds rewrote
the script and went to the Cannes Film Festival to find financing. Willi
Baer and Carmen Miller loved the script, believed in the Two Sticks’
team and backed Sneds in his feature directorial debut.
In
order to prepare for “If You Only Knew," Sneds signed on as
First AD and shared second unit directing and cinematography on “The
Brutal Truth”, a film directed by Cameron Thor.
“If
You Only Knew" was shot in NY City and Los Angeles starring Johnathan
Shaech, Allison Eastwood, James LeGros, and Gabriel Anwar. The film went
theatrical in three countries, was picked up by HBO and can be found nationwide
in Hollywood Video stores. Sneds
co-wrote, acted, directed and edited this film.
